Jimmy Breun Shield
A marvelous victory was acheived
by Highfield in this years Jimmy Breun Shield regional qualifiers
at Kilcock Golf Club.
Saturday 5th of May was Foursome
medal play where Highfield qualified in 2nd place to reach the
semi-final stage on the Sunday morning 6th May. Highfield beat
the Curragh in the morning and went on to beat Trim four one
in the final.
This win put the Highfield
team into the last 16 in Leinster and were drawn to play against
Co. Longford Golf Club in Trim. A good win for Highfield was
secured, most notable that day was the three wood second shot
by Peter Walsh into the par 5 18th hole which came to rest about
2 feet from the hole, for a handy eagle and a three two win for
Highfield.
The next round was played
in Ashbourne Golf Club on 3rd July versus Balbriggan. Unfortunately
it wasn't to be for Highfield on the day. Balbriggan won by four
matches to one.
